Concordia Alumni Association
(https://alumni.concordia.ca)
Many retirees and prospective retirees are also alumni, and quite a number of alumni are also retirees. Hence, our two associations have much in common and many of the same goals. If you are one of the alumni, and also a retiree, make sure to check this out and keep apprised.
CURAC
(https://www.curac.ca)
The College and Retiree Associations of Canada is an association of all associations, such as CURARUC, which represent retirees at the various institutions. CURAC discusses issues of interest and importance for University retireees. We are a member and are kept regularly apprised of issues as they arise.
CURAC/ARUCC has a very broadly-defined role in helping its member organizations serve the interests of their members. These interests are themselves understood to be diverse and to include, but extend beyond, immediate concerns with retiree pensions and benefits to encompass ongoing participation in teaching and research, retirement.
Communication: Enabling retirees from post-secondary educational institutions across the country to keep in touch with one another, and to learn from one another's experience.
Information and watch-dog role: Collecting information about how such retirees are treated with respect to pensions, benefits and continuing links with the institution with which they were associated. Identifying and speaking out for best practices in these matters.
Lobbying: Representing the interests and perspectives of retirees from post-secondary institutions on federal and provincial issues that concern them.
Research and discussion: Providing a forum for the discussion of issues of concern to retirees, initiating and supporting research with respect to these issues.
